The U.S. Liberty $20 gold piece, also known as the "Double Eagle," is a coin that was minted by the United States from 1849 to 1933. It was designed by James B. Longacre, who was the Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint at the time.

The obverse of the coin features a left-facing bust of the Goddess of Liberty, with the word "LIBERTY" inscribed above her head. Around the edge of the coin are 13 stars, representing the 13 original colonies of the United States. The date of the coin is also inscribed on the obverse.

The reverse of the coin features a bald eagle with its wings spread, perched on a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" are inscribed around the edge of the coin, along with the denomination of "TWENTY DOLLARS."

The coin is made of 90% gold and 10% copper, and has a diameter of 34mm. The total weight of the coin is 33.436 grams, or 1.0750 troy ounces. The actual gold content is .9675 troy ounces.
