The UK Gold Britannia One Ounce Bullion Coin is a popular investment-grade gold coin minted by the Royal Mint of the United Kingdom. It was first introduced in 1987 and has since become a staple in the precious metals market.
Since 2013, the coin has been made of 24-carat gold, which means it is 99.99% pure gold. Each coin contains one troy ounce (31.1035 grams) of gold and has a face value of £100, although the actual value of the coin is determined by the current market price of gold. We only sell the pure gold versions of the Britannia.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse features the iconic image of Britannia, the female personification of Great Britain, holding a trident and shield. The design of the coin has changed over the years, with new versions featuring different artistic interpretations of Britannia.
The UK Gold Britannia One Ounce Bullion Coin is considered legal tender in the United Kingdom, although it is not intended for use in everyday transactions. It is a highly liquid asset and can be easily bought and sold around the world, making it a popular choice for investors looking to diversify their portfolios with gold.
